Quanah Parker Burgess Joins 17 Peck’s Stable of Premier Artists
A solid handshake and an Oklahoma Sooner grin sealed the deal with Quanah Parker Burgess for his upcoming 17 Peck premiere alongside his brother, Nocona J. Burgess.

SWAIA Fellowship Recipient Fritz J. Casuse (Diné) to Make East Coast Premiere at 17 Peck
A member of the Navajo Nation, Casuse is a rising star among his peers on the Santa Fe scene, masterfully creating jewelry with a “striking, contemporary look.” Now exclusively represented on the East Coast by 17 Peck, look for the unveiling of his latest works in January 2007.

World-renown Native American Artists Premiere at 17
Already known for providing access to the leading voices in Contemporary Native American Art, gallery owner Dan Kelley offered New England art collectors the unprecedented opportunity to meet a select group of the top Native Artists from the Santa Fe art scene. Master jewelry designers Melanie Kirk-Lente and Michael Lente (Isleta Pueblo), and clay sculptor Glen Nipshank (Big Stone Cree) appeared in the gallery to unveil new works executed specifically for 17 Peck.

David Michael Kennedy Premiere Draws Over 600 People
The buzz on the scene is true: over 600 people attended the Providence premiere of legendary photographer David Michael Kennedy’s landmark portfolio Dancers of the Northern Pueblos. The large-scale social event also featured performances by world-renowned American Indian Hoop Dancer Kevin Locke (Hunkpapa Lakota and Anishinabe) andhis Native Dance Ensemble. Local celebrities, Gallery Night Providence tourists, press agents, and the New England community, alike, enjoyed a 3-Course, catered reception.

Jody Naranjo Sells-Out Show
Despite constant rain storms at the Santa Fe Indian Market, premier 17 Peck Artist Jody Naranjo sold-out her entire pottery inventory within the first 44 minutes of the scheduled two-day show. International collectors used flashlights to find Naranjo’s exhibit booth as early as 3:00 a.m. to await the show opening at 7:00 a.m. Once again, the master potter took several 1 st Place awards, with her “Best of Division” award-winning pot, Market Memories, was the first to sell – less than 1 minute after the show opening – for $14,000. The gallery director of 17 Peck was on-hand to assist Jody and husband, Rick Garcia, amidst the crowded whirlwind of buyers.

17 Peck Gallery’s One-Night-Only Show Draws Capacity Crowds
Our Masters of Santa Fe show proved to be the “must-see” event of the Gallery Night Providence tour on August 17. Over 500 people crowded the gallery to see works from the top artists of the Southwest.

Providence Gallery to Taos

Between a one-night-only exhibit at the 17 Peck Gallery in Providence, and an appearance in Taos, the legendary artist Malcolm Furlow continued to stun collectors. Furlow’s recent works sold-out, resulting in his being commissioned to create new masterpieces for an impressive list of top collections – including the Swedish Government. Riding high from international recognition on the cover of Santa Fean magazine’s August Issue, Burgess’ works received accolades in venues from 17 Peck to the top gallery scene in Santa Fe. Already known as the “one to watch,” Nocona’s 17 Peck Gallery debut was quite successful.

The rain storms did not hamper fine jewelry collectors’ efforts to line-up in the constant down-pour for the opportunity to buy the most sought-after Contemporary Native American jewelry from New Mexico’s famous husband-and-wife team.

Nocona Burgess Joins Premier Artist Roster
The cover artist for the August, 2006 Indian Market Issue of the Santa Fean magazine, Nocona Burgess (Comanche), has been added to 17 Peck’s stable of premier artists. The great-great grandson of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, Burgess has emerged a distinctive artistic voice among is contemporaries on the Southwest scene.

Collectors attending our Masters of Santa Fe: Preview of 2006 Santa Fe Indian Market show on August 17, 2006 will have the first opportunity on the east coast to view and acquire several of Burgess’ recent paintings.
