MARCH
Expression and Interpretation
Thursday, March 18, Gallery Night Reception
5 – 9pm
The female form has always been a favorite subject for artist Daniel Kelley because of its ability to convey feeling and emotion. In this new series, he continues this practice of capturing the same sentiment while removing the actual figure and maintaining the surroundings. The canvas is left without a straight forward focal figure but still evokes the same emotion that the painting would have maintained had a figure been present. Drawing on life experiences, Kelley allows emotions and feeling to flow instinctively and organically onto the canvas and present themselves in whatever manner they choose. He has stripped away the rules of subject matter and allowed a freedom of expression and interpretation in these paintings that are left as abstract.
