I am fascinated by the concept of “journey” – more specifically, the spirituality of journey – as seen through ordinary appearances
Whether one is alone in a city taking the train, or contemplating the beauty of a pastoral landscape, or a figure imbedded in his personal landscape, there is movement and stillness between where one is and where one could be. In this space between two points – in the moments between – we live, move, and sojourn. Through the portal of my camera lenses, which are of my own design and fabrication, within the fabric of the cultural landscape, I attempt to discover, interpret, and mirror the spirituality of journey.
During my own, personal journey in search for meaning, I most recently discovered the power of natural and architectural elements – both decaying and becoming – as potential reminders and symbols of guidance and transformation: what has been, what is, and what could be. If we use our imagination, these elements can offer themselves to us as markers of Time and Place.
In my photographs, I endeavor to evoke the longing, the reaching, and the latent that is imbedded in the beauty of what is.
